S.O.B.`s, New York`s premiere venue for universal music, is seeking an latin music intern/assistant to the publicist/marketing director. S.O.B.`s is in its 27th year, and has presented artists such as Celia Cruz, Eddie Palmieri, Albita, Orishas, Yerba Buena, Tito Puene, marc Anthony & more.
The interns duties will include assisting the marketing director with day-to-day tasks and candidates should be passionate about latin music, speak conversation Spanish, outgoing and talkative, and proficient using the internet. This is an amazing opportunity to learn about new music, the live music/event promotion business, and to make long lasting contacts. This internship does NOT involve GRUNT WORK.
Responsibilities:
-Focus on weekly Latin Friday shows
-Initiate & Maintain contact with resources around city in relation to Latin music
-Researching artists, events, publications, businesses, writers and websites on the internet
-Updating/writing content for www.sobs.com
-Finding music and youtube links for various bands/artists
-Submitting listings for various publications and websites about events at S.O.B`s
-Assisting in preparation of press releases and other materials
-Reading music publications/newspapers and staying up to date on the music business
The ideal candidates is:
-Enrolled in or recently graduated from college
-MUST SPEAK SPANISH FLUENTLY
-Passionate about music
-Talkative, outgoing and willing to express ideas and opinions
-Willing to learn
-A strong writer
Compensation:
-Free entry into shows at S.O.B.`s (and possibly at other venues around the city)
-A wealth of experience, knowledge and contacts that can be found nowhere else!
-Occasional admission to shows at other venues around NY city.
